AIP Paleo Nutella (GF, DF)

When you think about one of the most addicting foods on earth… what comes into your mind? I’d say pizza, gelato… and for sure chocolate (in any form)!! This is why I created the recipe for this AIP Paleo Nutella, it’s super easy and quick to make and it won’t leave you with a headache.

While regular Nutella is loaded with sugar, artificial ingredients and nasty fats, the paleo Nutella I am sharing with you today only needs two simple ingredients and it can be enjoyed with fruit, gluten free paleo bread, home made cookies or even to fill a pie crust!

The healthy food options are endless, and with this paleo Nutella recipe you can finally enjoy a gluten, dairy and sugar free chocolaty spread, that’s also free from nuts and cacao and therefore compliant to the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP).

AIP Paleo Nutella (Dairy & Gluten Free)

No. of

  • 1 tbsp Carob Powder
  • 3 tbsp Coconut Milk

  • 1 dash of Cinnamon (for the spice addicts)

  • 1 tsp Hazelnut Butter (for the “original flavor” lovers – NOT AIP)

  • 1/4 tsp alcohol free Vanilla Extract (for the sweet-tooth kind of guys)

NOTE: If you are on the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP), avoid decorating your Nutella with almonds like you see in the pictures.

  1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well until you have a creamy and velvety home made Nutella.
  2. Enjoy your AIP Paleo Nutella by spreading it over cookies or sliced gluten free bread or layer it in a parfait cup (adding fresh fruit and dairy free coconut yogurt like you see in these pictures).

Is there an AIP-approved Hazelnut extract version by any chance?

    • ambra January 17, 2020 9:07 am

Keren, I don’t think so, as hazelnut in general are not allowed on the AIP. If you are not allergic to nuts, you should consider reintroducing them soon, see how you do with them and hopefully incorporate back into your diet!

True. I was hoping there would be an alternative version or substitute so I could make the nutella spread for my AIP daughter. I guess we’ll just have to wait until she’s ready for reintroduction. Thanks so much!
