The Hyatt Regency Phuket opened December 24th, 2013 on the secluded beachfront of Kamala Cove, overlooking the Andaman Sea in the South of Thailand. We were lucky to stay there when it was only 2 weeks old, and have the amazing experience of ‘launching’ a brand new property. For 10 days the hotel was only ours!
We still don’t know what we liked the most… If it was the 72 meter long infinity pool or the beautifully equipped gym… Or maybe the amazing Nahm SPA clinging to the luscious jungle, where we’ve had one of the best Thai massages ever (ask for the therapist Sand). Or maybe it’s the incredibly friendly staff, flown in from all over Southeast Asia, led by Reuben who personally sees to all our needs.
We will always remember its 2 great restaurants managed by the Head Chef, Alessandro Martinelli, who at dinner time moves from the ‘Pool House’ to the very top of the resort and starts grilling fresh fish, meat and vegetables on the open-air terrace of the ‘Sunset Grill’ (do not miss his garlic!).
We will always look back at Hyatt Regency Phuket as an oasis of peace and tranquillity, far from the madness of tourism, noise and pollution. Not often can we say this about a place since we always want to have new experiences, but we can’t wait to go back to the same, exact resort!
Have you been to Phuket? Where did you stay? Leave your recommendations in a comment and we’ll test them out next time!
