I always say my parents have genius ideas, but the day they showed up at my house in Italy with these gluten free chocolate biscotti balls (which they baked JUST FOR ME), I was in complete awe!
Man, that is a freaking amazing ideas, and one that’s so perfectly aligned with the name of my website… Aren’t these the most perfect “little bites of beauty” you have ever seen?

In the last few years, my parents have become quite the experts at gluten free baking. I translated my list of gluten free containing foods in Italian and stuck it to their refrigerator door, and even bough them a whole lot of gluten free flours (like cassava and rice) as well as several cans of coconut milk (my dairy free staple), mesquite powder, coconut sugar and lots of other healthy baking ingredients that I normally use when I develop recipes for you!
These super cute chocolate biscotti balls were one of my favorite gluten free treats they have made for me. But… there is a BIG BUT.

They DID NOT write down the recipe!!! Which, as you can imagine, is the biggest drama that can ever happen to a food blogger.
I could’t let these delicious cookies slip away from my parents memory. We had to remake some immediately, while the first batch of chocolate biscotti balls was still warm and while the process of making them was still fresh in my parents’ mind.

I took out all the ingredients, we measured everything to perfection, wrote down all the steps and finally crossed our fingers as we put the second batch of chocolate biscotti balls in the oven.
“Let’s hope they come out as good as the other ones!!
Luckily for you, they did! And I am thrilled to share this recipe with you as it’s a really fun gluten free treat that everybody will enjoy!
What you'll need to make these Gluten Free Chocolate Biscotti Balls:
The ingredients to make these Chocolate Biscotti Balls are really easy:
- Hazelnut Flour (you can replace this with Almond meal, but hazelnut flour has a mich more intense flavor)
- Organic Corn Starch (replaceable with arrowroot, but the consistency of your cookies using corn starch is guaranteed to be perfectly crunchy)
- Rice Flour
- Coconut Milk (make sure you use the full fat, canned version)
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil (what else would you expect from an Italian?! 😉
- Honey and Date Syrup (we mixed these two for a more rounded flavor, but you can only use one of these sweeteners too if you don’t have the other)
- Vanilla Extract
- 90% Dark Chocolate (I linked my favorite type in the recipe card below)
What you'll need to make these Gluten Free Chocolate Biscotti Balls:
Store these chocolate biscotti balls in an air tight container and keep it in a dry place. If it’s too hot in your house, you can store them in the refrigerator and take them out 20 minutes before serving
You definitely can, especially of you avoid drizzling the melted chocolate on top and wait to that tight before you are ready to serve them.
My suggestion would be to either freeze your chocolate biscotti balls “naked” (without the chocolate) and add it on afterwards, once they thawed, OR if you already garnished them with chocolate, make sure you don’t put them in the oven or microwave to thaw as that would create a big chocolatey mess.
I’d love that! If you scroll down to the recipe card, you’ll see that you click on the serving size, you can adjust it to your liking and the amount of ingredients will adjust automatically so that you can make as many chocolate biscotti balls as you’d like!
