Looking for the perfect organic skin care brand took me quite some time, research and money wasted in products that were just…bad.
I have a very sensitive skin and I have always suffered from allergies since I was very little, so finding a line of organic and all natural skin care products I could trust, hasn’t been exactly an easy task.
And then one day my mother in law, hearing me complain about my eyes always looking tired since I get up in the morning, gave me her little bottle of Eminence Neroli Eye Serum. “Try this one, I feel like it helps me a lot”.
I flipped the bottle and read the ingredients: neroli oil, coconut water, green apple stem cells, carrot extract… “This is a skin care product? I can basically eat it!” I was already in love.
If we care so much about what we put in our plate, why wouldn’t we put the same attention into what we put on our skin, choosing brands that only use natural, organic ingredients.
I love that Eminence products are all cruelty-free and formulated without parabens, sodium lauryl sulfates, animal by-products, synthetic dyes, petrochemicals, phthalates, GMOs and triclosan. And when you read the ingredients on the back of the box, you can actually understand what’s inside!
Since I know how hard and confusing it can be to find the perfect products in the skin care jungle, I want to share with you my morning skin care routine. In today’s post we’ll focus on my little daytime skin care ritual and I’ll share my nightly best practices next week. So stay tuned!!
Here’s my 4 Step Morning Skin Care Routine:
Get Your Skin Balanced!
About 3 times a week, or whenever I have enough time in the morning, I like to apply a masque to balance the different areas of my skin, help dryness where needed and control oiliness where it appears.
WHAT I USE:
A great masque for all those who have mixed skin type is Eminence Balancing Masque Duo. The jar is divided into two halves meant for two different areas of the skin.
The black “Charcoal T-Zone Purifier” is meant for deep cleaning and for refining the pores ofthe rather oily T-Zone.It contains caolin clay and charcoal, perfect for detoxifying the skin, and for drawing out the oil, dirt and bacteria that cause excess sebum.
The other half of the jar is white and filled with “Pomelo Cheek Treatment” (and you guys know I love pomelo!!!). This amazing citrus fruit is rich in antioxidants and vitamins that help minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and give the skin a powerful dose of hydration.
WHY I LOVE IT:
– Because it targets the needs of two very different skin areas.
– My pores look refined and minimized and my skin gets a mattified and smooth appearance.
– It leaves my skin purified and hydrated.
HOW TO USE IT:
Emulsify a small amount of “Charcoal T-Zone Purifier” masque in your hand with a few drops of water. Apply a thin layer of masque with fingertips to cleansed skin in the T-Zone area, avoiding the eye area.
Do the same with the “Pomelo Cheek Treatment” and apply it on your cheeks. Leave it on for about 7 minutes and rinse thoroughly
Get Your Eyes Revitalized!
There is only one thing I hate about traveling: not sleeping. I am very sensitive to the change of bed, pillow and to the amount of light in my bedroom (like I for chocolate, I only like extra dark)… and this unfortunately results in lots of hours of sleep getting lost.Puffy eyes are the main sign of this issue. That’s why dedicating some time to them is a very important part of my morning skin care routine.
WHAT I USE:
I love to use Eminence Cucumber Eye Gel. This soothing eye gel cucumber filled with organic cucumber juice extract and other active herbal ingredients to reduce puffiness, revitalize and tone your skin.Almond and Primrose Oil soften the appearance of skin around the eyes and they make it look rejuvenated and moisturized.
WHY I LOVE IT:
– When I get up after a poor sleep night, I feel like using Eminence Cucumber Eye Gel can actually restore and replenish the skin around my tired eyes.
– As soon as I apply it, my skin feels fresh, reinforced and strengthened.
HOW TO USE IT: Dispense a small amount of the gel and tap it gently around the eye contour area with your ring finger (since it’s the weakest, it prevents you from using excessive pressure and possibly damage the collagen in this very delicate area of the skin). Use itin the morning, or anytime you feel like your eyes need a lift.
Get Hydrated and Protected!
We all know it. The main factors that provoke our skin to prematurely age are sun exposure, repetitive facial expressions, gravity, sleeping positions, and smoking.
There’s nothing we can do against gravity, and to stop smiling… well, that would be pretty sad.
Among the things we can actually control, protecting our skin from the sun seems to be one easy task. Right after my morning masque and eye gel, I like to apply a nice good moisturizer with a good dose of SPF too.
WHAT I USE:
I love Eminence Bright Skin Moisturizer with SPF 30 that, thanks to its content of licorice root and its GigaWhite antioxidant complex, helps restore the natural luminosity of the skin.
This amazing cream also contains a natural brightening agent made with organic African potato and Tara Tree that contribute to giving your skin a more radiant complexion, and it’s also enriched with a booster of antioxidants, vitamins, Coenzyme Q10 and Alpha Lipoic Acid that help reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
WHY I LOVE IT:
– I love that it’s all in one and I can use a moisturizer I trust without worrying about finding another sun screen to apply on top of it.
– I love that it works on both brightening your skin, lightening the appearance of dark spots and protecting you against future sun damage thanks to its SPF spectrum.
HOW TO USE IT: Simply apply a layer of moisturizer over the entire face and neck area. Leave on. Done.
Make that Sunscreen Last!
After these 3 easy morning steps, I am pretty much done. And I simply strengthen my sun protection throughout the day by using just a couple more products.
Sun protection is super important. Let alone skin cancer (like melanoma), excessive sun exposure can cause signs of skin aging, like wrinkles, sagging, brown spots, and uneven tone.
WHAT I USE:
Even though I usually put on very little make up on my skin, (just a bit of eyeliner and blush, never primer nor foundation), I do like to dab some on my face as a part of my beauty/sunscreen routine.
These hypoallergenic, non pore clogging natural minerals contain micronized Zinc Oxide that provide water-resistant SPF 30. Not only do they give your skin a nice and uniform complexion, they also keep it protected from the sun!
Lastly, after I apply my Sun Defense Minerals, I like to spray my face with some “Stone Crop Hydrating Mist”, a toner made of hydrating stone crop juice, spring water (rich in minerals) and saliclic acid that helps remove impurities.
WHY I LOVE THEM:
– Using Sun Defense Minerals is like putting on make up with SPF inside!
– I like that, as opposed to other sunscreens that make your skin look oily, this product provides a silky matte finish.
– After applying some Stone Crop Hydrating Mist over my “Sun Defense Minerals” my skin looks clear and hydrated and I can reapply it multiple times a day!
HOW TO USE THEM:
To apply the Sun Defense Minerals, swirl the brush in the powder and gently sweep it across your entire face and neck in a light, circular motion. Afterwards, spritz your skin with some Stone Crop Hydrating Mist to set the color and increase hydration.
This is it! Put on a smile on your face and you are ready to conquer the world! 😉
